L'Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art: Hold, Finish and Which of the 14 Products You Actually Need

Tecni.Art is L'Oréal Professionnel's styling line, and it is priced flat — nearly every product on this page costs the same. That is unusual and it is useful: it means you can choose purely on what the product does, with no budget trade-off at all.

The hairsprays, graded

Three sprays, one axis. All are 289 g aerosols.

  • Infinium 3 — medium hold. Movement stays. This is the everyday spray and the one for fine hair, where a strong spray reads as helmet.
  • Infinium 4 — strong hold. The workhorse: holds a blow-dry or a set through a full day.
  • Fix Extreme — extra strong hold. Updos, event hair, and anything that has to survive weather.

If you buy one, buy Infinium 4. If your hair is fine or you dislike the feeling of hairspray, buy Infinium 3 instead — going down a grade solves more complaints than switching brands does.

Volume and texture

  • Full Volume Extra — extra-strong volumizing mousse, 250 ml. Root-lift on damp hair before drying. The single most effective volume product in the line.
  • Super Dust — volumizing texture powder, 7 g. Sprinkled at the roots on dry hair for instant lift and grip. Tiny tin, long life, and the fastest fix for a flat parting.
  • Next Day Hair — dry finishing texture spray, 193 g. Second-day texture and grip without washing.

Pastes, waxes and matte finishes

  • Web — sculpting fibre paste, 150 ml. Stringy, fibrous separation; the classic short-hair definer.
  • Depolish — matte destructuring paste, 100 ml. Kills shine and breaks up a shape. Use it when hair looks too neat.
  • Fix Poker Paste — compact repositionable paste, 75 ml. Firm but re-workable, for precise pieces rather than a whole head.

How to choose between them: Web for texture with some shine, Depolish for texture with none, Poker Paste for control on small sections.

Smoothing and blow-dry

  • Blowdry Fluidifier — 10-in-1 blow-dry cream, 150 ml. The prep step: it makes the dry faster and smoother. The most under-bought product in the line.
  • Liss Control — smoothing gel-cream, 150 ml. Anti-frizz control on damp or dry hair, for a sleek finish.
  • Pli Shaper — thermo-modelling setting spray, 190 ml. Sprayed before heat, it sets the shape the iron or brush gives it.

Curls and waves

  • Curl Bounce — curl defining cream, 200 ml. Definition with bounce, for natural curl.
  • Siren Waves — elastic curl defining cream, 150 ml. Softer, looser, more undone. The one for waves rather than curls.

For washed-in curl care rather than styling, that job belongs to Curl Expression — see the guide by hair type.

The three-product starter kit

If you are building a Tecni.Art routine from nothing, this is the order that gives the most back:

  1. Blowdry Fluidifier — because everything downstream works better on a better blow-dry.
  2. Infinium 4 — the hold that makes the style last.
  3. One texture product, chosen by hair length: Super Dust for fine or flat hair, Web for short hair, Next Day Hair for long hair you do not wash daily.

Pairing Tecni.Art with the tools

Pli Shaper before the Steampod 4.0 is the natural pairing — the setting spray gives the steam iron a shape to lock in. With the AirLight Pro, Blowdry Fluidifier on damp hair is the right prep.
