L'Oréal Professionnel Line by Line: Absolut Repair, Metal Detox, Vitamino Color, Curl Expression and the Rest

L'Oréal Professionnel runs about a dozen parallel systems under the Serie Expert banner, plus Metal Detox and the Tecni.Art styling line. Several of them look interchangeable on a shelf and are not. This is the full comparison.

Absolut Repair

What it is: the classic damage line. Gold Quinoa and Wheat Protein resurface the fibre from the first wash — the repair you can feel immediately, because it happens on the outside of the hair.

The range: Shampoo (300 ml / 500 ml / 1.5 L, plus 500 ml and 1 L refill pouches), Conditioner (200 / 500 / 750 ml), Mask (250 / 500 ml), the lighter Golden Mask, and the 10-in-1 Perfecting Oil.

Best for: dry, rough, colour- and heat-worn hair that is not actually breaking.

Absolut Repair Molecular

What it is: the structural repair line, and a genuinely different chemistry. A patented Peptide Bonder plus five amino acids repairs the hair's macro-molecular structure from inside, in a sulfate-free base. L'Oréal measures +86% smoothness on the system.

The range, in order of use: Pre-Treatment spray before shampooing → ShampooRinse-Off SerumLeave-In Mask, which is also a heat protectant. There is a Molecular Mask and a Bi-Phase Dual Oil on top.

Best for: bleached, over-processed hair that stretches when wet and snaps when dry.

Absolut Repair or Absolut Repair Molecular?

Absolut Repair fixes how hair feels. Molecular fixes what hair is. If a good conditioner already makes your hair feel fine and it still breaks, that is the signal to move up. Molecular is also the one to choose if you need sulfate-free — Absolut Repair is not. Molecular costs more and works slower; nobody with merely dry hair needs it.

Metal Detox

What it is: not a care line at all, but a corrective one. Copper and other metals from tap water build up inside the fibre and react during colour and bleach services, which is why identical formulas can behave differently on two heads. Metal Detox neutralises them.

The range: Cleansing Cream Shampoo (100 ml / 300 ml / 500 ml / 1.5 L plus refill pouches — the widest size ladder in the brand), Conditioner, Mask, High Protection Cream leave-in with UV filters, the Concentrated Oil (−95% breakage in one use, 2× shine) and the professional Pre-Treatment Spray.

Best for: hard or well water, frequent lightening, colour that shifts. It layers on top of any other line rather than replacing it.

Vitamino Color and Vitamino Color Spectrum

Vitamino Color is the established colour line: Resveratrol, an antioxidant, protects against the oxidation that fades colour — up to eight weeks of radiance. Shampoo, Conditioner, Mask, 10-in-1 Spray.

Vitamino Color Spectrum is the newer tier, formulated for the full spectrum of shades and techniques with an upgraded antioxidant system. It has three things Vitamino Color does not: a Purple Shampoo, the Glass Shine Serum, and refill pouches. Shampoo, Conditioner, Mask.

Which one?

If the complaint is fading, Vitamino Color does the job and costs less. If the complaint is that the colour looks dull — technically correct but lifeless — Spectrum plus the Glass Shine Serum is what you are actually after. Vivid and fashion shades are the clearest case for Spectrum.

Curl Expression

What it is: the curl system, and the only Serie Expert line with two different cleansers by design. The Moisturizing Cleansing Cream washes in a creamy lather that deposits moisture; the Anti-Residue Cleansing Jelly clears build-up, sebum and pollution without stripping.

Two masks, matched to pattern: Moisturizing Mask for waves and looser curls, Rich Moisturizing Mask for coils.

Then style: Intensive Moisturizing Leave-In, Curl Activator Jelly, 10-in-1 Cream-in-Mousse, and the Curl Reviver water mist for day two.

Scalp Advanced

Three diagnoses, three actives, and they are not interchangeable: Anti-Oiliness Dermo-Purifier with AHA (plus a clay masque), Anti-Discomfort Dermo-Regulator with niacinamide (plus the Intense Soother leave-on), and Anti-Dandruff Dermo-Clarifier with piroctone olamine.

Serioxyl Advanced

The density line, and the only one here where the treatment outranks the shampoo. The Denser Hair Serum uses Stemoxydine 5% and is measured at 1,700 new visible hairs over three months of daily use; the Thickening Shampoo plumps each fibre and preps the scalp. Because the claim is a three-month claim, the 3-Month Program Set — three 90 ml serums — is the honest unit of purchase.

Pro Longer

For long hair whose ends have gone thin. Filler-A100 and amino acids renew the lengths: Shampoo, Conditioner, Mask, the Rinse Treatment lamination and the Ends Filler Concentrate, which is the line's highest dose in 15 ml.

Liss Unlimited

Anti-frizz smoothing with kukui nut oil and the Pro-Keratin complex — built to hold in humidity. Shampoo, Mask, and the Blow-Dry Oil with primrose oil.

Blondifier and Silver

Both are for pale hair and they do opposite jobs. Blondifier is care: acai polyphenols restore luminosity to lightened and highlighted hair — Gloss Shampoo, Conditioner, Mask, Rinse Treatment. Silver is toning: violet pigments plus gypsophila extract for grey, white and platinum, one to two washes a week.

If you are blonde and brassy rather than blonde and dull, the third option is the Vitamino Color Spectrum Purple Shampoo, which tones and protects colour at once.

Inforcer

Anti-breakage for fine, fragile hair, with Biotin and Vitamin B6. Shampoo and Mask. Choose it over Absolut Repair when your hair breaks but cannot carry weight.

Mythic Oil — discontinued

Mythic Oil Shampoo for thick hair is discontinued by L'Oréal Professionnel. What is here is final stock. Do not start a routine on it; if you have been using it, Absolut Repair is the closest successor for thick, dry hair.

Tecni.Art

The professional styling line — 14 products, and almost all at the same price, so choose on finish rather than budget. Full breakdown in the Tecni.Art styling guide, but the short version: hairsprays graded Infinium 3 (medium)Infinium 4 (strong)Fix Extreme (extra strong), Full Volume Extra mousse for lift, Web for fibrous texture, Depolish for matte separation.

Tools: Steampod 4.0 and AirLight Pro

The Steampod 4.0 straightens and waves with continuous steam — L'Oréal measures 91% less damage and 2× smoother results against a conventional flat iron, with a built-in comb that aligns the section as it glides. There is a Steampod & Serum Set if you want the matching protective serum with it.

The AirLight Pro is the infrared dryer: up to 30% faster drying with less heat damage, in a body light enough for a full salon day. Both are professional-tier purchases — buy them because you style daily, not occasionally.
